Hello All,
I am thankful for two people in particular who had a great impact on me regarding music and the tuba. One is Joe O'Neil who played tuba/sousaphone in my home town community band years ago. He had a wonderful sound and a great concept of how to play things in a way that supported the ensemble. The other is Pat Landolfi, tubist for the New Jersey Symphony and my college tuba instructor. Pat was the toughest teacher that I ever had and was also the best. He demanded that things be played correctly and forced me to really work on basics and HEAR what was coming out of my horn. His lessons were all business and no BS and I am grateful to him for that-I owe whatever success I've had playing and teaching professionally to him.
There are many, many other musicians who helped so much-it's a good thing for all of us to stop and think of those who helped us get to wherever we are today.
