I have never tried a 683 in CC, but I liked the BBb version that I tried. That might be going a little too far on the other direction, in that the 683 is a 3/4 sized horn. The 686 is a good, 4/4 sized horn that I think would be a good choice. It is similar in size to the Miraphone 186, which seems to be the standard for what a 4/4 sized tuba is.
