There are several valid reasons you are experiencing just as you said. The Conn Helleberg mpc does seem to have a slow response for people with light articulation. Combined with the fact that there is no receiver gap in the sleeve and/or leadpipe combination of a Yamaha 822, you will get a slower articualtion. Many alternatives are out there. Larger shank on the mpc combined with smaller throat and/or backbore. Matt
