Considering that there have been many less-than-stellar conversions of BBb tubas into CC, I don't think that cutting a big ol' GG tuba (contra) into either BBb _or_ CC would be a good idea at all.

There have been numerous conversions in terms of adding valves, so that kind would be possible. I've got an inkling to put a 4-piston set into my 2v King K90. That would turn it into a fully chromatic tuba, and I'd even be able to use it on all the songs at our Tubachristmas (with permission, of course!). As it is now, I know that it'll fit great on the melody line of "Fum Fum Fum".

Hey, if horribly out-of-tune and unfocused things like serpents and opheclides are welcomed, then my King -- which is about 5/4 size, plays very well with a great sound (ask those who know me), and is one of the _youngest_ members of the tuba family -- should have no problems.

Seeya,
Leland
