Yet another opinion. I had played a Cerveny Piggy and a Rudy Meinl 3/4 in several orchestras. When we performed a piece requiring an expanded orchestra I always felt I was pushing against a brick wall. Since I purchased a Rudy Meinl 5/4 CC I have no problem balancing a large orchestra. I can now hear my sound bouncing off the far wall of the concert hall. I studied with Dave Unland at Ithaca College when he played a Rudy3/4 for everything and he never lacked for a huge sound. I wish I could own three or four horns but since the majority of my playing is orchestral I'll never give up my big Rudy.
