I've owned my Rudy 5/4 CC for about five years and I could'nt be more satisfied with it. It's capable of a huge, broad sound while being agile and responsive. It does have a huge bore (.866 I think) but it's a very open horn with a fine high register. I use it in our symphony orchestra and opera orchestra. I've tried other large horns including the big Meinl Weston Warren Deck model, none of them comes close as far as I'm concerned. As for whether big american horns are better, I am biased. I've never been a big fan of the thick sound and high resistance of the old american horns and their conversions.
