I have had a Miraphone 188 for over three years, and have played it in brass quintets, concert bands, and large and small orchestras. It is a versatile horn which works well in a variety of settings. I don't find it overbearing for brass quintet work, and find that I can get more definition from the horn than from a Miraphone 186 that I owned previously.

The horn that I own is probably from the late seventies (I bought it used), and I had it overhauled at Dillon Music (New nickle-silver leadpipe, adjustable-gap receiver, new teflon sockets for the valves, and a general clean out).

There are two used 188's for sale at www.netinstruments.com
