I had a silver Besson that I polshed maybe 10 times over a 5 year period.
It got millions of those tiny scratches. I finally realized that it must be the sponge which I was using to wipe on the silver polish. It was one that originally came as part of a car waxing kit. It must have had microscopic grit in it, I may have waxed my car with it before using it on the tuba.
