Yes, you'll breathe more heavily because it takes more effort to move the whole body, and you might be asked to play louder, or loud more often.

Do pay very close attention to your posture, though. Your body should be as upright and comfortable while wearing the horn as it would be without the weight. If you're having to adjust the shape of your torso to fit the horn, you're doing something wrong. Adjust the instrument to fit you, and you'll play fine.

The quality of your feet might be a factor, too. However, since your marching style is determined by the band staff, you can't just change to a more efficient technique if the one they use isn't too great. But, good feet will enable good posture.

Tell ya what, though -- I don't think you'll have any problems moving air once concert season starts up again.
