Please excuse the obvious bit of self-promotion!

For anyone interested - I'll be playing a recital at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY on FRIDAY OCTOBER 6th - 8pm - in the Nicholas Music Center. (732)932-9302

PROGRAM
Solo- David Sampson (solo cimbasso)
Inner Demons - Tim Tollefson (tuba and piano)
Sonata #2 - Alec Wilder (tuba and piano)
Three Songs from 12 Poems of Emily Dickinson - Aaron Copland (tuba and piano)
Duo Fantasia - Brian Kershner WORLD PREMIER (tuba and percussion)
6 Likes for Solo Tuba - Theodore Antoniou (solo tuba)
Etre Ou Ne Pas Etre - Henri Tomasi (tuba and 3 trombones)
Georgia On My Mind - (cimbasso and 3 trombones)

I had the luck and honor of performing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra last week - Varese AMERIQUES. William Scarlett, former trumpet with the CSO was also playing extra and took me over to the Fine Arts Building where I had many many lessons with Arnold Jacobs (since 1974). Mr. Scarlett has taken over the studio and continues to teach there. He has a wall dedicated to Mr. Jacobs as well as the spirometer that he himself broke after trying it - blew the lid right off!! The aura still remains - it's a magical place.

Both he and Gene Pokorny pointed out that I was doing my recital 1 day before the 2nd anniversary of Mr. Jacobs' passing (October 7, 1998) It would seem that I had blocked the date out of my mind - but, now that I realize it, I've dedicated the recital to Mr. Jacobs.

Hope anyone near can make it and I apologize again for the long post.
