Since I earn only about 1/3 of my living by playing I will have to respond as a semi-professional musician. I have found I can play just about any orchestral or opera job on my large Rudy CC and have never had a complaint. I would love to own several nice tubas FF,EEb etc. but I simply can't afford all that hardware. I think you will find that unless you are using a .680 bore peashooter tuba most conductors could give a hoot what instrument you play, as long as you can produce a characteristic tuba sound and compliment their orchestra. We as musicians sometimes worry too much about the latest hardware instead of listening to great players and emulating their sounds.
