I can understand cutting when good CCs were in short supply or when attics were overflowing with 3-valve 5+/4 BBb horns, but that isn't the case today. True, there is an economic aspect to cutting--a cut York runs about $8K, whereas a factory-built CC is a couple to a few grand more. But a lot of the cut jobs tend to be very mediocre and, as you say, are a gamble from the moment someone like Bob Rusk lights up his torch.
