I am not sure I would agree with the clearity comment when comparing horns of different sizes. When I switched from my Hirsbrunner HB-21 to my Yorkbrunner, clearity was much simpler. It was again made even simpler with a change in mouthpieces.

I have seen people put cork wine stoppers in various places on their horns swearing that they make the horn respond better. I even fell victom to the belt thing for a few months when I was in high school. These nuance changes usually have no real long term positive effects on the musical product. If they do, it is mostly mental in that it shakes up the mental approach to performing enough to help catalyst changes. A plecebo effect if you will.

Unfortunatelly the gizmos rarely make more of a real difference than another week of practice does.

skeptically youurs,
sean
