The Conn 2J and 3J "Harvey Phillips" models, have a bigger bell than the Weril. I believe the Conn 2J is 16" and the Conn 3J is 18". I owned a Conn 2J for some time and used it for higher pitched orchestral and brass quintet repertoire. It also has a good low register, but does not project as well as some of the newer 4/4 CC tubas, that have bigger final bows. Both horns, I think, would make very good jazz tubas, and pit orchestra tubas for a trombone or string bass doubler. the Conn 3J has a slighly broader low register, but not as brilliant a high register.

I tried a Weril BBb tuba and CC-tuba a few months ago, and liked the BBb better. The CC-tuba had an overly bright sound for my taste. In size, they are more like the Yamaha 621.
