This is a classic Catch-22 case. Seems the students want more professionals posting to this list and the professionals want to stay away because of some things written by students. The CSO audition subject has come up before and the answer is that the CSO hired who they wanted. All the finalists wished they had the job but are professional enough to accept the results. Seems there are those out there that can't let things rest even about an audition 12 years ago.

I remember one dinner with Mr Jacobs and a group of students. One student had the nerve to ask Mr Jacobs about the relationship between a group of colleagues. While Mr Jacobs got out of it gracefully (and a few of us gave the student a stare-down), the student dinner for the next night was cancelled. Who suffered, Mr Jacobs? No, we had a good dinner the next night. The students? You bet, one stupid question ruined it for all of them.

On the road to being a professional musician, there will be auditions and only one person can get the job. Life goes on and we are all colleagues in a small world. There is no reason a student should ask questions like the sports media. If you want some garbage, I suggest you look at the New York Sports pages - with the world series there should be a lot of garbage out there.
