The people spoke and the voice of the people was heard. And brass players have their moles, even in the biggest baddest corportions.

A number of followers of this BBS took my advice and emailed Joe Szurly at Universal. As a result there is a PJBE release scheduled for January 2000:

Philip Jones Brass Ensemble - Greatest Hits

This will be a two-CD set on Decca, a so called "Two-fer" priced in the $18 range. The play time for each disc will average in the high 70s of minutes.

The repertoire will include the core quintet pieces, the Bozza, the Ewald 1, and the Arnold, along with the Maurer 4 Pieces. There will be a set of renaissance pieces including the Byrd Earl of Oxford, Susato Suite, and the Bull King's Hunt. Several fanfares including the Copland Common Man, and Dukas La Peri. John Fletcher's 4-part overdubbings of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and Sleeping Beauty Waltz.

A bunch of short pop pieces, rags, Dvorak Humoresque. . .

Last and by no means least - Pictures at an Exhibition.

Scheduled release date: January 23, 2000

Subject to change. Hopefully on schedule. Hopefully more to follow. I'll keep you posted.

At fine music stores and websites. And you know which ones they are.
