Who plays in a band because of the music?

Who buy stacks of band CD’s?

Are these people furthering the cause of development and future for their beloved band(-s)?

With all due respect to brass virtuosi: They could not have achived their skills without being extremely gifted musicians AND having listened to Oistrach, Kemp, Stern, Rostropovitch, Barenboim, Karajan, Brain (Dennis, no implied joke), Bernstein, Gould, and/or musicians of that calibre.

About The Ring of Lords: Have been through it at a high level camp. Sitting on 4th horn part of my attention was diverged to the task to determine, from where the occasional worthwhile theme was stolen.

Why do I then play in bands now: They are the best, and only, opportunity to exercise my low brasses within reasonable travelling distance. And occasionally one can even experience a conductor being inspiring.
