The other guys made excellent suggestions. Actually, I was kind of being politically correct when including F tuba in my "find a cheap used one" comment. A cheap F tuba is almost a contradiction in terms. Especially when you look at the wealth of cheap used Eb tubas available. My main point was to spend the dough where you'd get the most usage, as in the 4/4 CC tuba. I'd make buying any smaller tuba just to play the VW as a secondary expenditure. I bet the used Yamaha 621 would be a very good choice though. I remember that horn having a pretty reasonable low range and it has a very sweet, easy to listen to sound. Overall, a very nice solo tuba.
