For a BBb the Besson is OK. I owned one I thought it was OK for large group work, but didn't like it for solo work. I had problems with the response of the horn. Bessons biggest problem with the horn mostly has to do with the success of its Eb. Its a good horn for what it does, however when compared to the success of the Besson Eb it doesn't stand up. Its other biggest complaint among people is that fact that it is so top heavy. When you hold the horn upright then you can't reach the 4th valve very well, but when you tilt it to reach the 4th valve you spend most your energy keeping it from falling over. If ever I feel the need for a BBb tuba it is possible I might consider a 3 valve compensating Besson. It wouldn't have this problem, and still plays in tune down to low E which is good enough for me.
