Until the spokes fatigue and break. Remember, the strength of the wheel is directly related to spoke tension.
And, Chuck, 14 ga. spokes are 2.0 mm in diameter. 1.8, 1.6, and 1.5mm spokes are readily available, and surely that is smaller than the shaft on which the touchpieces rotate. But my real question is, how to you achieve a wheel with no dish?
