Great movie and music; the absolute epitome of British Style Brass Band sound. I haven't seen the movie for ages, but I do remember there's one shot where you can clearly see the boom-mike/camera in the reflection of a tuba bell (when a seated player has the instrument with its bottom bow on the floor, bell up [obviously]).
I use "like the movie Brassed Off" often, when explaining my background to the (inquiring) uninitiated! The movie The Full Monty also has a "real" brass band pictured & in sound), though it is far less integral to the storyline, of course.
