I know a few things about these horns, at least the bell front ones.
The bell front ones are used in the Oberkrainer groups in germany/austria ect... as THE brass instrument, playing the bass line and melody. They are very FAT sounding horns, very nice if you ask me. Take a look at Lechners website (that's the one that I've played on) as well as Miraphones for a look at some nice horns . If you can find some recordings of Oberkrainer groups take a listen, you'll like what you hear! There are lots of links to groups websites on the Lechner page.
