The only 2155 tuba that I've ever played and considered "nice" was the fancy-schmancy "Millenium" (or whatever) model...a very nice tuba with a great sound and intonation.
Regular 2155's have been disappointing to me, as have the 2145's.
I think any player that can play "loud enough" can play any tuba "loud enough". The tone quality will just be different according to how the bell shape of the tuba and a particular player "get along" with each other.
