I must interject my usual positive opinions of the 2145.

I find that my 2145 works just fine with an orchestra, as far as balance. It took quite a bit of getting used to at first, as well as some changes in use of air pressure and amount of air.

The only ensemble I find that I have some dynamic issues with is the wind ensemble. In some situations, I find that I have a bit of trouble projecting on the same level as the rest of the ensemble. We are talking on those terrible sƒƒƒz band passages here, the unecessarily loud ones. I think it might have something to do with the more homogeneous sound of the wind ensemble, compared to a mixed orchestra. The rest of the time, the horn works well in the ensemble.

But, back to your orchestra question, there's no doubt in my mind that it wouldn't suffice for it. I love the sound that this horn projects, and it doesn't seem to have much of a problem projecting it in an orchestral setting. have fun
