I'm ashamed of my home town. I find it nearly impossible to fathom that an area as wealthy as "silicon valley", would not be jumping to support a full time symphony orchestra. Why hasn't the symphony beaten up on some of the area's more wealthy industrialists, such as Steven Jobs? I can't say that I've helped matters much, because I always drove up to go see the San Francisco Symphony. Now I live in S.F. I think it would have sparked a lot more enthusiasm for the SJSO, if they had been able to refurbish that derelict movie theatre (Fox?) on First Street, as had been seriously discussed at one point. For me, the PAC (Performing Arts Center) is the main stumbling block, not the quality of the orchestra itself. Sheeeesh, what unusual times we're entering. Tony, you're an excellent orchestral player (pretty fine soloist too), and deserve a full time orchestral gig somewhere.
