I've flown recently, with no problems. This time, just in case, I ran my trombone through baggage in an SKB golf case, in the gig bag with bubble wrap around it. I've known people to still take horns on with no problems. They're searching random people's baggage- ALL of it, taking out every piece of clothing and every item in both carryons and checked baggage. They even took my horn out of the gig bag, and repacked it and wouldn't let me even touch it in the process. It takes forever, and the lines can be unbelieveably long. Get there at least 2 hours early. They are confiscating anything sharp, but I'm sure you can get it in tune.
