Seriously, this 184 is a really nice tuba and I have a penchant for making my instruments as stock as possible. That means an overhaul plus using factory parts for the conversion. Believe it or not, I already have a price quote from the factory to do the work. So far, the best option looks like swapping the current 5th valve and tubing for a new 5th valve that is a flat first and right thumb operated. The current one is 2 whole step and left hand operated. I would prefer to have the work done here rather than ship it to Germany but all the really good guys that can do this type of operation are pretty busy. We shall see.

My opinion for what it's worth...
