Just a couple weeks ago I had a conversation with Steven Mead about practice mutes.
I was getting a lesson and had done a lot of practicing with a practice mute prior to that. He asked which one I used. It was the Silent Brass.
He said that the Silent Brass does "funny things" to the face and embouchure. He added that the Denis Wick was the best.
I still like the Silent Brass, but I'll be giving the Denis Wick a chance when I see one again.
