Sex uses about the same amount of work as a brisk walk. If a brisk walk of 45 minutes is helpful (and it is), then sex for the same length of time will be equally helpful, at least to your cardio-vascular system.
The question is, can you maintain the brisk-walk work output for 45 minutes?
