King makes a nice 3/4 size horn that would still be big enough for 8th grade. Model 1135 or something like that.
The old Olds (0-991?) was a decent horn and when Olds went out of business they sold the tooling to Bach, so Bach made them for a few years back in the late 80's early 90's.

Of course the Yamaha 103/105 is a nice horn although they tend to be a bit on the fragile side with nylon valve guides and thin brass. They are also very small. Maybe a bit small for 8th graders. If you can get separate horns for the older kids the Conn 12J(3 valves)or 5J (four valves) is a smaller 4/4 horn that works well with middle school aged students, there should be tons of used ones around too.

Check Dillons or Baltimore Brass

Little Czerveny Piggys or MW 18s work well too, but they may be a little more $ and are bit more fragile. (not as much bracing and thinner brass)
