Friends, this message is not for all, but I know there are a great number of players (of all instruments) that would be interested.

It you have not seen or heard of LGBA (Lesbian and Gay Bands of America), I encourage you to check them out. These bands are located throughout the world and are "all-inclusive," as regards talent level. They range in size from less than 25 to more than 150 members. Their performances have been given in more major venues and in from of more live audiences than many 'professional' musical organizations.

If you have read this far, please know that sexuality is of no (NO) consequence. All that is needed is a love of making music and pleasing audiences. An example: a mass band of 350 played in the Hollywood Bowl several years ago. The conductor was the head of bands/band music at a LARGE midwest University. He brought with him his wife and 5 children to festival. When asked if he was uncomfortable with the implied association, his answer was "You are musicians, period". At that performance, we also had Rita Moreno and her stage band as guests, along with "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark." There was an audience of 6000+. A success, by all measures.

Please, take the time to check LGBA out. Music isn't everything - it's everything!

A fellow tubist - Jim
