Penn State is in the middle of a search, and as Ivan (the graduate assistant there) stated, they will surely find a strong candidate. Penn State has made a committment to growth and stability and by adding this tenure-track position, will continue to display positive growth in the music community. This may seem contrary to Dr. Young's statement, but having spent the past nine years there (until this year), I have seen positive growth. The other brass faculty there will be wonderful colleagues personally, musically and professionally. Mark Lusk on trombone, Lisa Bontrager on horn, and Langston Fitzgerald (just retired from the Baltimore Symphony) on trumpet. This is a great job!

The teacher this year is Jeff Parker, who has been the tubist with the Santiago, Chile Symphony Orchestra for the past nine years. He is a PSU and U. of M. alumnus and a fine musician. Incidentally, the previous Santiago, Chile tubists were Bill Gray, and before him Andy Carlson---both currently with the US Navy Band in Washington.
