I'd agree with that. The older Boosey & Hawkes Imperial BBb tubas from the 1970's are built solid and have great tone/intonation. In the UK they can be bought from as little as $1000US in excellent condition. Our band bought four new Sovereign tubas eighteen mouths ago and the plating is already wearing off three of them!
