Diaphragm Vibrato should never be used on a brass instrument!!!!! The reason why I state this opinion of mine is because Diapragm Vibrato has a tendency to effect the steadiness and purity of the player's "straight" tone, or the tone when not using vibrato. The air stream should always remain as open and free as possible and since we brass players have the ability to use jaw vibrato and keep the air stream open, we should use it! The only good reason for flutes and vocalists using the diaphragm is because there is no other alternative, at least that I know of.

As always, just my opinion...I could be wrong!
