removing the entire rod. Take a pair of pliers and gently twist the rod out the fittings. I have done this to all my MW tubas that have this installed on the 5th valve slide. I can't figure out why MW installs this rod on their 2145, 2155 & 2165 tubas. What good does it do other than to serve as a slide lock?
