If you want a large piston tuba, and you want a new one, your only real choice is the Willson 3100. It requires considerably confidence to play in that it doesn't give you a lot of feedback, but it will put the sound out there.
But I have not played a Willson that is in the same league in terms of responsiveness to my Holton, but old Holtons with acceptable intonation and condition are quite difficult to find.
I haven't played a Fafner, but I would like to. Don't expect the big Conns to be easy to manage, intonation-wise. The F at the bottom of the staff will be particularly tricky. I also have trouble playing the big Conns softly.
