My Holton plays perfectly in tune except that all notes are exactly one whole tone flat. I solve the problem with alternate fingerings.
I haven't heard of a single horn that is or was in regular production (meaning that there are more than a handful of prototypes) in the BAT category that can be characterized as consistently in tune. Some of them are nicely in tune, and some aren't, and the engraving on the bell doesn't seem to be correlated.
But none of them have any better intonation than the player (and that's where mine have their biggest problems).
