Normally true, but I've managed to iron out the wrinkles with mine via a first valve trigger, PT 88 mouthpiece and bell weighting. And, it's for sale - moving onto C.

Here's the blurb:

Cerveny CBB 693 BBb Kaiser (compact) tuba

Purchased in early 2001 from the factory in Kraslice, Czech Republic.
19.7" bell, .827" bore, 4 rotary valves (uniball linkages)
Listed as 4/4 size but definitely a 5/4 tuba.

Customized by professional craftsmen in the UK - includes added bell weight
(soldered strips of brass on the inner throat of bell) & a trigger on the
first valve (uniball design made by Meinl Weston factory).
In excellent condition, minimal wear and tear from use, one small area where
lacquer has worn, one scratch near thumb ring.
Original hard case included.

Photos and more info available on request.
