Newton fails to cite Bernard of Chartres about 500 years earlier. Robert K. Merton has a great deal of fun discussing this in one of his monographs.
With regard to Fred Marzan, I believe the memorial article Barton Cummings and I wrote will be in the next issue of the _ITEA Journal_. Lloyd Farrar and Mrs. Marzan also have something planned for Lloyd's conference in TN in November.
