Question for anyone:

Has anyone on this bbs taken a really good Eb tuba, lengthened the tuning slide (or some other part of the instrument) and checked out its playing characteristics as a D tuba? I remember Roger Bobo had a D tuba, and liked it better as a D tuba than as (previously) an Eb.

' seems to me, a "D" tuba might come closer to an "all around" tuba than anything. (Ride of the Walkuries - A minor [CC tuba] fingerings...much of which is in "home" key //// Meistersinger - Bb major [CC tuba] fingerings...a great key, and an easy trill /// etc.)
