A leather rifle sling works great for me. They fit the strap "loops" perfectly (on my two Mirafones anyway) and are very durable and fasten with brass screws through the leather like old belt buckles. Most have a shoulder pad built in, but I add a wool auto shoulderbelt pad that velcros right around the strap. You can get both at any Walmart. The strap is about $6.00.
Why a rifle sling? I had a stand up gig a number of years ago - but no strap - no one had a strap to sell and ordering one took too long - necessity - the mother of invention.
