At various times I've played an Amati Eb, F and BBb in orchestras. People have been extremely snobby about them, but the fact is that they play as well as horns that cost a lot more. The resonance is always very good, the machine part of the horn can be a bit slow, but you can have somebody work on the linkages. There's nothing wrong with the old East Block Amatis either, except that the factory dies were worn and the product wasn't always uniform, though these horns always had a sweet ring. Good luck, John
