Flew Delta in January from LaGuardia to Indianapolis. No extra charge for a Walter Johnson hard case that weighed 75 lbs and is about 100 cu inches. However, the aircraft was a 50 passenger jet that most commuter airlines use and, since the flight was full, there was no room in the cargo area for the tuba. It had to go on a different flight that stopped in Cincinnati and transferred from there. I found the Delta personnel to be very helpful and understanding. Of course, I laid on the guilt by explaining we were on our way to IU for my son's college audition and the gate agent's were most accommodating.
