I think I (almost) get it. If I understand what you are saying, the "double buzz" I get in some parts of my range is really the horn telling me, "you're a little off," and encouraging me to find the correct pitch.

Is that also what is happening when I think the wrong way when resolving a chord or something and I should be going up (or down) a half step or so and the sound comes out kind of "mezzo flop"?
