I thought I'd better chip in before this discussion becomes too sensitive.
Although I did not know Dr. Randolph personally, it is my understanding that he was an exceptional human being who was universally loved by his students and his colleagues. It is obvious that he was also a great teacher by observing both the past and current level of performance of his students.
While I'm certain that he and I might have some differences in our approaches to playing and mentoring, I am positive that he and I would share the same commitment to our students, not only in their development as brass musicians but in their development as human beings as well. It is not my wish to "replace" Dr. Randolph, but only to strive to continue his legacy of excellence at the University of Georgia.
