Bach 18 has been my main axe for 25++ years. A wonderful solid mouthpiece. If your horn speaks well with the Bach 18, be happy and play all the more!! That said, I have enjoyed experimenting and performing with alternatives. It is remarkable how the sound will change. I'm currently having a blast with the increased harmonic core that a Marcincewicz H2 is producing for me.....I just love it! But it makes my horn sound different and the sound needs to fit the music. I seem to remember reading that Arnold Jacobs freqeuntly changed mouthpieces to achive the "right" sound for the music he was playing.
