I usually play my Mirafone CC 186 (1970) or my 1952 Boosey & Hawkes Imperial compensating 4v Euphonium (That is until lately).
Nearly two years ago I found this helicon and got it for a song. New condition 3-valve section, very minor dents, good silver finish, never overhauled and dosen't need it, great sound. I find a lot of the old classic tuba solos are (of course) just made for this horn.
I wonder how many of these are around and if they are usually as good as this one?
I am not selling it, I may wanr to insure it for replacement value. I have hunch that a modern horn that plays as nice would be pretty expensive!
Any comments? Info? History?
