Thanks for your input, Kristof. I know the reputations of the four brands you mentioned... what I wouldn't give to have the opportunity to own one of them. I am a "switch" player in a community band, primarily playing BBb tuba and covering for our euph player when he can't make concerts. I have an old Martin (circa 1928) that is in pretty rough shape (valves are leaky, needs some posts soldiered back and the finish is almost completely gone) but it still has a fair sound to it. I noticed on the Tuba Exchange web site, Vince had one of these horns for sale. I know, and completely agree, the "good" euphs you mentioned would definitely be the best to pursue, but unfortunately the funds are not available for such an investment. So... price does does enter into the equation. This horn was tagged for $895. I guess I'll have to find one of these horns somewhere and give it a test blow.

Thanks again!
