Couple of things to consider here. If this is a fairly new horn, or recently cleaned, you can squirt some oil down the leadpipe (about 5 seconds worth) blow it through while working the valves. With an older uncleaned horn you will successfully wash a bunch of food and crud into the valves (not a good thing). You can oil through the main tuning slide, but be careful not to wash the slide grease into the rotors. Do this by removing the slide and inserting oil into slide itself (might want to clean it first), then insert it all the way so no grease comes in contact with the oil. Turn the horn and again work the rotors to distribute the oil. Be certain to oil the top and bottom bearings with a heavier oil (3&1) about every week. Doing all this will keep them working well, and quietly.
