I have used a Meinl Weston 2145 in my brass quintet for almost two years now, and have found it to be a very solid horn with regards to intonation, tone and range. The lower register, in particular, is outstanding. The horn seems to be more at home in small to medium-sized concert venues(churches, senior citizen centers, living rooms, etc.) although I have used it successfully for some outdoor band concerts, and with a 50-piece orchestra in a larger auditorium.

The instrument I have is one of the later versions with the big valves that Meinl Weston uses on all the 2000 series horns. The two modifcations that I had made to the horn were that I had a Dillon adjustable gap receiver installed, and I had the leadpipe adjusted so that it is braced off the bell and is slightly higher and slanted upward somewhat. I found that the latter change makes for a more comfortable playing position for me.
